A Bit About Me

The story behind Retired Guy Website Design

Who I Am

Hello there — I'm the “Retired Guy” behind this operation. After decades in the fast-paced world of professional web design, I stepped back to enjoy retirement here in sunny, laid-back Aiken, SC. Think golf, a good book, and finally having time for that garden I always talked about.

But I never quite let go of the craft. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking a blank page and turning it into a clean, functional website. I missed meaningful conversations with thoughtful people — the kind who appreciate clarity, simplicity, and websites built to last.

My Journey in Web Design

My story begins in the early days of the internet — back when dial-up was the norm and every page loaded one… line… at… a… time. Over the years I designed for startups, established businesses, and everything in between. Trends came and went: Flash intros, gradients, responsive design, parallax, minimalism… but the fundamentals stayed the same.

Why Retirement… and Why This?

Retirement gave me back my time — no long agency nights, no juggling a dozen clients. But I realized I still had something valuable to offer: experience, clarity, and a personal approach that larger agencies simply don’t have the space for.

Now I take on only a handful of projects, working at a relaxed pace with people who value a thoughtful, collaborative process. No pressure. No sales pitch. Just honest web design applied with care and decades of insight.

If that sounds like the kind of partnership you’re looking for, I’d be glad to chat.
